US Food and Drug Administration – Harvey W. Wiley Federal Building in College Park, MD
The Harvey W. Wiley Federal Building is a 5-story facility totaling 350,000 square feet and is located in College Park, Maryland. It houses employees for the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN). This organization is one of six product-oriented centers, in addition to a nationwide field force, that carry out the mission of the FDA. The CFSAN has over 800 employees spanning numerous scientific disciplines.
Problem
Reliable cellular communications were deemed a necessity for staff at this location in 2010. At that time the FDA issued a request for proposal (RFP) to deploy a multi-carrier DAS.
Solution
Intenna won the RFP and deployed the DAS in 2011 to accommodate the two largest wireless service providers. Intenna also won a large upgrade project to enable 4G services in multiple frequency bands in 2014 and maintained the DAS through annual service contracts through 2017.
