Letter from the CEO
Enterprise DAS takes Prominence
All Intenna Systems’ Employees, Partners and Clients,
Intenna’s vision to be the most respected company in our industry is founded on a culture of appreciation for our co-workers, clients and partners. Since the company’s founding in 1998 when we began the innovation for in-building wireless integration, our core business activities have become the industry standard. 2019 continued to be no different.
Appointed as one of a select few CommScope Premier Partners in January, Intenna continued to lead the way in design and integration experience with commitment to customer service and the highest quality.
This past year has seen the addition of a number of apex projects to our considerable list of success stories including Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHoP), St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Citibank Tampa Office Complex, completion of the Comcast Technology Center as well as one of the first SDLAN small cell networks in the U.S. for the city of Philadelphia Police Department, just to name a few.
The Phase 1 project for CHoP replaced nearly 50% of the campus with a brand new, all-digital DAS that provides a level of flexibility and software configurability that is unparalleled in the clinical healthcare environment. Phase 2 will add another large campus building to the DAS, as well as replace the DAS in 4 underground levels of an existing building.
In June, Intenna became the first integrator to complete the Ruckus Certification on CBRS/Private LTE as part of the CommScope ERA platform. In addition, we deployed over 7600 DAS antennas for nearly 24 million square feet of coverage in 2019 alone.
2019 also drove the launch of our newest frontier, Enterprise DAS. Mobile Network Operators funded a mere fraction of DAS deployments compared to previous years while Enterprise DAS pushed the magnitude of deployments well beyond the volume of any past year in the history of DAS.
Moving forward, the biggest challenge in deploying DAS services remains obtaining Mobile Network Operator’s signal sources. In collaboration with Verizon COERAN, Intenna has cut a path for the use of Enterprise Owned Radio Access Network equipment. Partnering with Cheytec Telecommunications (now Diamond Communications), our clients can directly control signal source rather than suffer through the carrier funding process. In 2020, we anticipate the further development of Small Cell as a signal source that will complete the suite of technology available to smaller venues.
Armed with the ability to secure MNO signal source and the promise of CBRS Private LTE, the future holds much greater potential for quantity of deployments and new applications to truly provide converged, comprehensive wireless networks.
Intenna Systems is changing to stay relevant to our customers and to capture opportunities both in our core business and targeted growth areas to continue to lead and shape the industry. We are working directly with our OEM partners to develop more functionality for digitally based DAS equipment that will empower us to better serve our clients with enhanced remote troubleshooting and repair capabilities resulting in shorter resolution times for our Service/Maintenance and Monitoring clients.
As we continue to grow, we remain grateful to work with such talented team members and partners and congratulate our employees on their hard work and dedication in an ever-changing industry. Intenna is poised for a bright future thanks to their many efforts and contributions.
Sincerely,
Christopher D. Lange
